The Protektn Story

Protektn was founded to meet the demand for world-class PPE that would protect the UK’s frontline and critical workers. Never have our healthcare and medical sectors faced such challenges as those the COVID-19 has presented and we are determined to play our part in keep them safe.

Our work harnesses the heritage and expertise of decades of experience in the manufacturing sector and encompasses the design, production and packaging of premium quality PPE. These operations are underpinned

by our objectives to support the government and NHS PPE supply chain, to bring a robust manufacturing resource back to the UK and, ultimately, to reduce deaths from COVID-19.

Our market is extensive and growing. In 2019, 10.6 million of those employed in the UK were in key worker occupations and industries. That equates to a 33% of our national workforce. The largest group of those engaged in key worker occupations work within the health and social care sector, which represents a staggering 31% of its personnel.

Today, the sector is faced with unparalleled demand and Protektn is helping it meet that demand head on. During the pandemic, we have already supplied six million sterile gowns to the DHSC, developed thumb-loop gowns for the NHS and delivered many millions through Tier One suppliers. This is proof indeed of our manufacturing quality, logistics resources and supply chain efficacy.

Our Strategy for the Future

Protektn is a powerful force in the medical and healthcare sector today, but we are visionaries. Our strategy is fixed on value creation, exposure to new market opportunities and enhancing our manufacturing and supply capability for the long term – we’re already making moves to achieve just that.

Protektn has already approved and completed the requisite due diligence on UK supply sources that will accommodate a vast range of urgent PPE products and requirements.

We’ve secured state-of-the-art extrusion and production plant machinery, which is scheduled for installation and commission early in 2021.

We have successfully negotiated an EN149 FFP mask production line to be commissioned in the UK early in 2021.
